Working for an estate sale company is a weekend to remember … and enjoy!

Is working for an estate sales company right for you?

If you are passionate about antiques, collectibles, art, jewelry, or coins then working for an estate sales company may be just the thing that is missing in your life! Sounds crazy and dramatic, right? But it is true. An estate sale provides you with the opportunity to pick up some extra cash by working on the weekend surrounded by exquisite pieces and rare finds that you might not have seen before. Better yet, the buyers and shoppers that attend estate sales have the same interests in these items as you do.

The Overview

Working at an estate sale provides you with a chance to pick up some extra money and have fun while doing so. Typically estate sales are 2-3 days and held over the course of a weekend. This is a great solution for those that are retired, those who need a part-time position and is an excellent option in the summer months for teachers and students. Having experience working with the public such as current/former retail and restaurant workers is a huge plus as this is a fast paced position that requires a smile and being on your feet all day.

The Good

Every weekend is like Christmas as you walk through the house to learn the layout and inventory that is being sold. You will be working with a team that is there to assist you throughout the day. You will be dealing with buyers and shoppers that are just as excited about the selection of items that you are. Since most estate sales happen over the course of one weekend, each weekend that you work will be in a different home with new items for sale. A flexible schedule and weekly pay make this a great position for anyone looking to supplement their income while doing something that they enjoy.

The Bad

Working as a sales rep at an estate sale is a fast-paced environment where you deal with hundreds of shoppers and buyers in the course of a few hours. You will spend all day on your feet moving throughout the house to provide customer service, answer questions and close deals. Like any position that involves working with the public, you will run across some people who are not in a great mood. That doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve a smile and great customer service.
